Symptoms usually include: Vaginal discharge (usually of a strong odor), poor appetite and might be vomiting, or drinking excessively. The infection develops most commonly in a uterus which is engorged ready for a pregnancy. The infection from the vaginal area ascends into the uterus. This causes pus to develop. Most often the treatment for this condition is to remove the reproductive organs.
However, there is also a book in where the woman says she has sucessfully treated pyometra with Goldenseal parthenium. I would caution however to keep a close watch if treating your pet with this condition with herbs. Watch close for signs of digression. This condition can be fatal.
