ANTI AGING .... ANTIOXIDANT

Too much of anything can be harmful.  For example we would die if deprived from water but too much and we can drown.  This is also true of out of control oxygen.

I met a man several years ago who was blind since he was a few weeks old.  He had been born premature and was put in an incubator unit which was ventilated with high oxygen.  Back then they hadn't known that high oxygen that wasn't buffered with nitrogen... destroyed the eyes.  His eyes literally rotted out.

Although we need oxygen, uncontrolled oxygen (called free radicals) can wrinkle our skin, lock up our joints, harden our blood vessels, let cancer grow and age us prematurely.

Oxygen in the body is needed by the body to slow burn calories, but a free radical oxygen molecule (which basically is an unstable or hungry oxygen) will burn up healthy tissue.  A physical example of this is when you cut open an apple, the oxygen turns it brown.   For years food preparers have known to sprinkle lemon juice on fruit salad to prevent the apples from browning.

You can achieve the same principle in the body by ingesting antioxidants.  Antioxidants are compounds that react easily with oxygen and thus protect neighboring compounds from damaging reactions with oxygen.

There are 5 major antioxidants.  Four of them are known as the ACES  (Vitamin A, C, E and the mineral Selenium.  The 5th is Zinc).

NATURAL SOURCES OF THE ANTIOXIDANT

Vitamin A - Good source is the betacarotene found in organically raised carrots, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. (Depending on liver function)

Vitamin C with flavinoids best source is extracted from pine needles or grape seeds (known as pycnogenols).

Vitamin E - organically raised sunflowerswhole wheatnutsbroccolisweet potatoes and leafy greens. (Depending on liver function)

Selenium - organically raised onions, tomatoes, kelp and broccoli.

Zinc - organically raised wheat germ, sunflower seeds, green leafy vegetables, beans and peas.

Thai-Go contains them all in a palitable juice.

If someone tries to sell you some antioxidants, make sure they're naturally occurring and not artificial.

Nature's Sunshine's Dr. Scala has formulated an "antioxidant arsenal" which contains all of  the ACES   and also Zinc.

Sometimes the amount of information that is out there is overwhelming.  I have come to the point where I feel that if there is one more thing that I read about where I should change something about my health I am going to go over the deep end.  Then I realize that I don't have to do everything right all the time.  It's not what I consume every once in a great while, but of what the bulk of my diet consists.

On the other hand, if I age prematurely, I want it to be because I enjoy twinkies and not because I didn't know better. :)

The focus of this site is to "educate, validate, and suggest alternative methods for the treatment of health conditions," which are not readily available to those who go through mainstream programs.

To help ensure good results, high quality foods and supplements are vital. Knowing that the cost of supplements can get overwhelming, we provide a wholesale store.
