The adrenal cortex is responsible for three main types of hormones:

#1. Adrenal androgens - DeHydroEpiAndrosterone (DHEA), the precursors for sex hormones especially estrogen, progesteron, and testosterone.

#2. Glucocorticoids which produces cortisol like hormone. Regulates blood sugar. Helps during time of stress

#3. Mineralocorticoids which helps keep salt and water balance which effects blood pressure

These hormones play crucial roles in regulating various bodily functions; including stress response, salt and water balance, and sex hormone production. 

#1 Epinephrine (adrenaline) most people use an epi-pen when they have allergic reactions aka as anaphylaxis, typically during an asthma attacks.

Which helps treat low blood pressure and slow heart rate.

#2 Norepinephrine (noradrenaline) which helps with:

*Attention/Focus - attention, focus, and memory. 

*Blood Pressure - increase blood pressure by constricting blood vessels.

*Gastrointestinal Function - digestion and motility

* Immune System regulation

* Mood Regulation- helps aliviate depression and anxiety. 

* Sleep-Wake Cycle- regulates sleep and awake at the right times; See circadian rhythm

* Stress Response-"fight or flight" response by increasing alertnes, blood pressure increase and heart rate.
